The EXmoor pony is a rare breed native to the British Isles. Many herds can be seen in the wild in Exmoor National Park, a large area of moorland in Devon and Somerset in southwest England. Historically, these sturdy ponies were used for farm work. Today the Exmoor is used primarily for riding pleasure and the Show Ring. The Exmoor has been catalogued in danger of extension. It is the most original and the closest of the wild horses of the British cobs.
