A large, horned dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Montana, U.S., was formally named and scientifically described in 2024. It measured about 6.7 meters in length. Lokiceratops had two enormous, sharp horns on the back of its head shield. Furthermore, the ornamentation on this shield was strikingly asymmetrical, with horns of different shapes on each side. This unusual feature suggests that horned dinosaurs exhibited much more varied head ornamentation than previously believed. The name Lokiceratops comes from the Norse god Loki, who wielded swords.
